More Art, Less Ads: We’re sponsoring ad space to showcase local artists.

A series, currently featured in SLUG Mag, where space typically purchased for ads is sponsored by The Ruby SLC to showcase local artist’s work instead to:

  • Drive visibility for artists in Salt Lake no matter their follower count

  • Support the local creative economy

  • Encourage the notion that art, the creation and/or the enjoyment of, is for everyone

The works are featured on a half page space and can be cut out, framed, collaged or pinned bringing art directly to the public through the pages of local publications.

The first in the series, "Meet me at The Ruby SLC, Baby" was in collaboration with Taylar B. Jackson (@Gothsloth). Jackson's work has recently been featured in Vogue Australia, and she's also worked with Nitro Snowboards on their 2025 Mercy snowboard graphic (which has since sold out).

What do I have to do for my work to be featured?

Get in touch to discuss what work you’d like to be featured. We happy to visit studios or meet up to hear more about you, what you’re working on, and how we can help with our program.

The program is new and will be optimized over time to meet the needs of our community.

What do I get for being featured?

Visibility: The primary goal for the program ensures reach of your work to tens of thousands depending on publishing partner. Features in SLUG mean your work could be seen by over 85k on owned social media channels, 87% of which have attended arts events and 92% attended community arts and culture events. Each month, 20k copies are distributed in print and over 80k impressions on SLUGmag.com.

Media Value: We’re currently negotiating the best media value we can get for our artists in 2027. At the minimum, your work will be featured in print or online with our publishing partners through ads and supplemental social posts. These ads (half page/print) typically cost just over $1k.

Commissions: A selection of artists will be commissioned for net new works in collaboration with The Ruby and our publishing partners.

Does the work need to be new?

Artists have the option of showcasing an existing work or collaborating with The Ruby on a commission or net new project which typically sets the timeline.

How many features are left for 2027?

We’re actively filling spots in advance of 2027 to maximize what we can offer each artist in partnership with our publishing partners. Once the 2027 slots are full, we’ll plan the 2028 program. As always, the early artist get’s the…feature.

I’m not an artist, but I want to get involved…

Amazing. Ad space isn’t cheap and we’re just paying out of pocket right now, we’d love partners who can help us get local artists the attention they deserve and no amount is too small.

Reach out and we’ll talk about how we can collaborate to amplify the program in a world drowned by ads for things we don’t need, let’s replace even a small percentage of them, with art!
